To all whom these presents may come greeting: know you that I Paul Meachum of Surry County in the state of North Carolina, but at presents in the County of Goochland and State of Virginia for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving. But more especially for the faithful services rendered me by my negro man Robin who is now about the age of thirty six or thirty seven years. Do hereby freely voluntarily, emancipate and set free the said negro man, Robin to commend from the 25th day of December in the year 1805. In testimony whereof, I have to these presents set my hand and affixed my seal this 17th day of December 1804.

At a court held for Goochland County at the Courthouse on Monday the 18th day of February 1815. This deed of emancipation was presented in court and proved by the oaths of Charles Massie, William Turner, and Benjamin Crenshaw three of the subscribing witnesses thereto to be the act and deed of Paul Meachum a party thereto and ordered to be recorded.
