Know all men by these presents that I Rice Ennes of Powhatan County & state of Virginia for ninety five pounds to me in hand paid have this day bargained sold & by these presents manumit & forever acquit all bond service a negro man named Watt Hill which negro man I purchased from the estate of Charles Toney late of Goochland County, and I do by these presents warrant unto the said Watt Hill his freedom from me, my heirs, executors & administrator or creditors of every description whatsoever, and I do farther by these presents defend him in his freedom against the claim of myself my heirs executors administrators or any person claiming for or under me in any manner or for any purpose or cause whatever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 27th day of Oct. eighteen hundred.
