Know all men by these presents that I Richard Pope of Goochland county and State of Virginia for divers good causes and considerations moving me thereunto, do manumit set free and enfranchise the negro following to wit, a negro girl named tilly to be free the 25 day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixteen. And I do hereby discharge the said negro from all claim of service and right of property from me, my heirs, executors and administrators forever. Given under my hand and seal this 15 day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight.
