We Sarah Parsons, Elizabeth Tucker Pleasants, & Thomas Exum Pleasants of the County of Goochland, and John Scott Pleasants of the City of Richmond holding jointly a legal right in the following negroes, to wit, Silvia, aged about forty three years, Phill between eighteen & nineteen, Bob, seventeen, Ned, ten, Pat eight & half, Nancy White, seven, James White, five, Lucy White, three, Henry Ned two years old; but believing that all mankind have a natural inherent right to freedom, we do therefore emancipate and set free the aforesaid negroes, the males when they shall arrive to the age of twenty one, and the females when they shall arrive to the age of eighteen years, without any molestation or interruption from us or either of us, or any person or persons claiming for, by, from or under us or either of us. In witness we have hereunto set our hands and seals this first day of the eleventh month in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety two.

This deed of manumission was presented in court and proved by the affirmation of Samuel Parsons and James Dixon to be the acts and deed of Sarah Parsons, Eliza. T Pleasants and Tho. E. Pleasants which was ordered to be recorded as to them and proved by the affirmation of Samuel Parsons to be the act and deed of John S. Pleasants which is continued for further proof as to him.

At a quarterly sessions Court held for Goochland County on the 19th day of march 1798
This deed of manumission was acknowledged by John S. Pleasants a party thereto to be his act and deed, and thereupon admitted to record.
