Know all men by these presents that I Henry Anderson of the County of Amelia and the State of Virginia have manumitted, emancipated and set free, and by these presents do manumit, emancipate and set free the following slaves heretofore, my property to wit, Eliza a woman about thirty five years old, and her children namely Mary Frances Sally and Manerva Hill, Henry Thompson, Laurence Duprese, Stephen Wiley & Lucy Eggleston their ages not accurately known, but all under twenty one and I hereby vest the afore named slaves by this instrument of writing emancipated and each of those [illegible] all the freedom and rights with which under the law of this Commonwealth of Virginia I can vest them. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty second day of October eighteen hundred and forty seven.
