Whereas by the last will and testament of Stephen Farley dec’d he directs that after the death of his wife his negroes in his said will mentioned and their increase shall be set free from bondage and whereas by deed of emancipation heretofore executed by me as Executor of said Stephen Farley dec’d on the [blank] day of [blank] I therein liberated and set free from bondage agreeable to the will of my testator all of his said negroes except Herod who was by mistake not mentioned in said deed. Now in pursuance of the will of said Stephen Farley dec’d (his said wife being now dead) I do hereby emancipate and set free from bondage the said negro man Herod and do by these presents hereby acknowledge and declare the said negro man Herod forever hereafter free from all manner of claim title and demand whatever that I as the representative of said Stephen Farley or any person claiming under me may have to said negro Herod and do hereby declare him as free as the law of this state will permit him to be. Given under my hand & seal this 26th November 1818.
