Whereas by the last will and testament of Stephen Farley dec’d he directs that after the death of his wife Martha all of his slaves to wit Thomas, Nancy, Dicey, Isaac, James and Abraham and their increase be liberated and set free by his Executors and whereas the said Martha his said wife has lately departed this life, now in pursuance of the will of the said Stephen Farley dec’d I William Burton who have qualified as Executor of the said Stephen do hereby emancipate and set free from bondage the said negroes to wit, Thomas, Nancy, Dicey, Isaac, James and Abraham as also the following being the increase of the said Dicey since the death of the testator to wit, Mariah, Susan, Ben & Martha. And I the said William Burton Executor as aforesaid do hereby declare the said negroes free from bondage as fully and completely as the laws of the state will direct. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 25th day of April 1818.
