Know all men by these presents that I Wm T Eggleston of the County of Amelia for good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have manumitted emancipated and for ever set free one slave to me at this time belonging that is to say George aged about forty five years he being a slave lately purchased of Rich’d [?Hewlett?] and I the said Eggleston do here by declare the before named George to be from henceforth and forever free in as full and effectual a manner as if he had been born free. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23rd day of April in the year of our lord eighteen hundred & six.

delivered in presence of
Amelia County Court 24 day of April 1806 the within deed of emancipation was acknowledged by the within named William T Eggleston party thereto to be his act and deed and was ordered to be recorded.
