In the name of God amen. I Elizabeth G Seay whose maiden name was Elizabeth G Jones before their intermarriage with her husband Nelson Seay at this time residing in Amherst County Virginia being in very feeble health do by virtue of a power reserved to me in a marriage contract made with my said husband before our intermarriage which bears date the 17th day of September 1834 and is duly recorded in the clerks office of Fluvanna and Amherst counties Virginia make the following which I declare to be my last will and testament. That is to say I am at this time the owner of the following negroes slaves that is to say Mary and her son Richard her daughter Ann Amanda and Susan & her sons Jack & Henry the legal title to them as in my trustees Hudson & Noel as stated in said need of marriage contract. And it is my desire that as soon after my death as a fund sufficient can be raised by the hires of the said slaves that they may be liberated and removed to some free state or country. And I accordingly do make the girl Amanda is now in the possession of Doctor Twyman as a security for money advanced my husband but with a right to [?reduce?] I therefore direct that my executor apply the first hires to her [illegible] by paying to the said Twyman any thing justly due him and then all hires to accumulate for the removal of all the said slaves together with the increase of the females as above directed.
I do hereby appoint John Thompson Jr my executor to this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others. In witness whereof I have signed my name sealed with my seal and dated this 21st day of August 1857.

At a Circuit Court continued by adjournment and held for the County Amherst on the 29th day of March 1859
The last will and testament of Elizabeth G Seay deceased was presented to the court proved by the oaths of John Thompson Jr Joseph C Smoot and Samuel J Wiatt and is ordered to be recorded. And John Thompson Jr the Executor named in said will having appeared in court and refused to take upon himself the burden of the execution thereof on the motion of Robert M Brown who made oath and together with John Thompson Jr his security who justified as to his sufficiency entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of seven thousand dollars conditioned according to law certificate is granted to the said Robert M Brown for obtaining letters of administration on the said decedents estate with his will aforesaid annexed in due form. And on the motion of Robert M Brown the said administrator it is ordered that William E Coleman John T Ellis Albert C Harrison Samuel H Henry and Sameul W Mason or any three of them do appraise said estate and return the same to the clerk of this court to be recorded.

Know all men by these presents that we Ro M Brown and John Thompson Jr are held and formally bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia in the sum of seven thousand dollars lawful money of Virginia to be paid to the said Commonwealth for the payment whereof will and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of us our and each our heirs executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this 29th day of March 1859 and in the 83rd year Commonwealth.
The condition of the above obligation is that if the said Robert M Brown administrator with the will annexed of Elizabeth G Seay deceased shall faithfully execute his office as administrator with the will annexed as aforesaid then this obligation to be sold or else to remain in full force and virtue.

At a circuit court of Amherst County Continued by aforementioned and held on the 29th day of March 1859. This bond was acknowledged in open court- the security thereto having justified as to his sufficiency and ordered to be recorded.
