Deed made the fifteenth day of Oct One thousand eight hundred & fifty seven between Matthew Pilson one of the Exrs of Samuel Finley of the one part, Lewis Johnson a free man of color of the second part, and Emma a slave wife of said Lewis Johnson of the third part – Witnesseth; that the said party of the first part acting as Extr as aforesaid in consideration of one dollar to him in hand paid do grant to the said Lewis Johnson with special warrant, the said slave Emma aged about fifty years belonging to the estate of the said Samuel Finley dec’d, And the said Lewis Johnson doth hereby manumit and forever set free the said Emma, so conveyed to him.
