Know ye all whom it may concern, that I Susan widow of Jacob Krush, residing in the County of Augusta, do hereby emancipate my black man John and renounce my right for his service forever, I likewise do authorize John Smith to procure the free papers for said John from the Clerks Office of the County of Augusta, and signing any papers pertaining thereto in my name. Given under my hand and seal this day the 25th of April in the year of our Lord 1854.
