Know all Men by these presents that I Jacob Singh of the County of Champaign & State of Ohio believing it to be unjust and oppressive to hold any Person in Slavery, and believing it his duty to Emancipate and set Free a certain Negro Man Called Abraham now an Inhabitant of the County of Rockingham & State of Virginia do by these presents Emancipate and set free the said Negro Abraham free from the Claim of him the sd. [said] Jacob Singh and his heirs. In Witness whereof the said Jacob Singh have hereunto set his hand & Seal the 17th November 1817[.]
