Know all men by these presents that I Susan P. Taylor of the town of Lexington State of Virginia from motives of benevolence & humanity and for the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars have manumitted and hereby do manumit and set free from slavery my negro man Othello aged fifty one years. And I do hereby give grant and release unto the said Othello all my right, title and claim of in and to the estate and property which he may hereafter acquire or obtain. Witness my hand & seal.
