Know all men by these presents that I Charles P Dorman of the County of Rockbridge and State of Virginia have thought fit to Emancipate and set at liberty my negro man slave named Watt alias Watt Smiley aged about forty years & who was sold and conveyed to me by William Finley of the county and state aforesaid by bill of sale bearing date November 16th 1818 & I do by these presents Emancipate and set forever free the said Negro man Watt. In witness whereof I have set my hand & seal this 18th day of November 1818.
