Know all men by these presents that a negro man named Sam late the property and slave of Capt James Gilmore and my own property is hereby set free from slavery and I do hereby renounce all my right title or interest in the said Sam & declare that he is forever emancipated & discharged from my service.
In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this 1st day of October 1805.
