Know all men by these presents that I David Barnett of the county of Montgomery have manumitted, emancipated and set free and by these presents do manumit, emancipate, and set free a negro man slave named David, and sometimes called David Webster, and I hereby declare him the said David to be entirely liberated from slavery, and entitled to all the rights and privileges for free person, and I do hereby for myself my heirs executors and administrators forever relinquish all right and claim to his services. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 5th day of June 1838.

Virginia At a Court of quarterly session continued was held for Montgomery count at the court house on the 5th day of June 1838.
This deed of emancipation from David Barnett to David, sometimes called David Webster was acknowledged in court by the said David Barnett as his act and deed, and ordered to be recorded.
