Know all men by these presents that I Mary wade of Montgomery County per matters of benevolence have manumitted and set free from slavery and do hereby manumit and set free from slavery my negro man Spencer Bright, aged forty one years, and do hereby give grant and release unto the said Spencer all my right title and claim of in and to his person labor and services, and to all the estate and property which he may hereafter acquire. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 5th day of November 1855.

At a Court of quarterly session held for Montgomery County at the court house on Monday the 5th day of November 1855.
This deed of emancipation from Mary Wade to her slave Spencer Bright was proven in court by the oath of William A. Wade and J. Douglas Wade the witnesses thereto subscribed and ordered to be recorded.
