Know all men by these presents that I Dorothea Bratton of the county of Montgomery and state of Virginia have manumitted and set free, and by these presents do manumit and set free my negro man slave named Edmund. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 6th day of August 1848.

At a Court held for Montgomery County at the court house the 7th day of August 1848. This deed of emancipation from Dorothea Bratton to Edmund was presented in court and proven by the oaths of Eldred R Anderson and Paris Taylor the witnesses thereto subscribed, and ordered to be recorded.
