Know all men by these presents that I Samuel Barnett of the county of Montgomery and State of Virginia for and in consideration of divers causes, have emancipated & set free my negro man Anthony (alias Anthony Liggons) aged about sixth six years and do hereby declare him a free man, from and after this day, and do hereby release all claim or claims to his services forever. Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 1st day of February 1847.

Virginia. At a Court held for Montgomery County at the courthouse on Monday the 1st day of February 1847. This deed of Emancipation from Samuel Barnett to his slave Anthony (alias Anthony Liggons) was acknowledged in court by the said Barnett as his act and deed and ordered to be recorded.
