I do hereby emancipate and set free my negro woman slave Cynthia of the age of fifty one years and do hereby release all right and claim to her services, as fully to all intents and purposes as if she had been born free; witness my hand & seal this 5th day of October 1846.

Virginia. In the Clerks office of Montgomery County Court the 6th day of October 1846. This deed of emancipation from Mary Barger to her slave Cynthia was delivered to me and proven by the oaths of Henry S Stanger and John B Helm the witnesses thereto subscribed and admitted to record.
