I Henry Massie of the County of Allegheny and the State of Virginia, for diverse causes and considerations, do hereby emancipate and free from involuntary servitude the following slaves viz.My man, Gabriel, of Bright Complexion aged thirty last month, his wife, Polly, in Colour two shades deeper twenty three years oldlast February: and their Boy William eight years of age last March-In testimony of the above I hereunto affix my name and seal in the County and State aforesaid on this seventeenth day of October in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and thirty six.

Allegheny County Court February Term 1837

This deed of emancipation from Henry Massie to his slave Gabriel and his wife Polly and their boy William was presented in open court and proven by the oath of Andrew Fudge Williams Scott and Galbraith Style subscribing witnesses there to as to the due acknowledgement of said Massie and the same is ordered to be Recorded.In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of acersaid Court to be hereunto affixed this 25thday of February in the year 1837 and in the 61st year of the Commonwealth.
