To all whom it may concern know ye that I John Jarvis of Botetourt County having in my possession a negroe slave called Benn and being deeply conscious of the injustice of depriving my fellow creature of his natural right from God do by these presence emancipate him Benn and consider him forever fully & entirely freed & delivered from me my heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns or any other claim or claims whatsoever to all intents & purposes according to the true intention of these presence. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 7th day of November in the year of our Lord Christ 1791.
