In the Name of God Amen
I Thomas Bell of the County of Albemarle and Town of Charlottesville do make this my last will and Testament in manner and form following[.] That is to say[,] first it is my will that all my [?] debts be first paid in such manner as my executors shall think least injurious to my estate. 2dly I give & bequeath to my Nephew William Love and my natural Son Robert Washington Bell to them and their heirs forever all my real & personal estate I may die possed’d of in the county of Albermarle, State of Kentucky, Northwest of the River Ohio, or else where upon the following conditions, first the said William & said Robert before mentioned shall each of them be bound to pay my natural Daughter Sally Jefferson Bell the one sixth part of the personal Estate and the one tenth part of the real so bequeathed to them so soon as the said Sally shall arive at the age of Twenty one years and should the said Sally die before she arrives at that age or die without an Heir the property so bequeathed her to revert to the said William & said Robert but should the said Sally live to have an Heir or Heirs it is my will that the property afforesaid be given to her and Her heirs forever.
2nly in order to enable Mary Wills the mother of sd Robert & Sally to support and maintain the sd Children Robert & Sally untill they arive at the age of Maturity She the said Mary is to have free & full possession of all my houses and Lotts in the Towns of Charlottesville & Millon and all my household & Kitchen furniture during her natural life – the benefits arising there from to be laid out for the benefit of sd Robert & Sally in such manner as my executors shall direct. 3dly my Negroe Man Armistead is to be emancipated according to the laws of our country so soon as he shall arive at the age of thirty one years and untill such time shall not be sold out of the family (unless it be his choice) but shall remain with the beforementioned William or Robert as he may choose 4thly my Old negroe man Darby is not to be sold out of the family unless it be his choice And lastly. I do hereby constitute and appoint my Nephews Robert Jamboll and William Love, and my worthy friends Wilson Carey Nicholas & Thomas Carr Jun. executors of this my last Will & Testament hereby revoking all other former Wills or Testaments by me heretofore made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this ninth Day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & ninety seven

This Instrument of writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Thomas Bell deceased was in open Court proved by the oaths of Peter Lott and Thomas Carr Jr two of the witnesses thereto and by the Court ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Robert Jambell one of the executors therein named who qualified and gave bond and security Certificate is granted him for obtaining a proba[te?] in due form of Law
