Know all men by these presents that I James Towler of Green County State of Ohio for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving but more especially because I deem it a moral and religious duty to do so have this day emancipated and set free and do hereby emancipate and set free my slaves Polly and her son Robert and Eliza sister to Polly now in the possession of Archibald A. Davidson of Virginia near Charlotte Courthouse in that State. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 12th day of February 1834.

We Daniel Douglass and John Barnes two of the Justices of the peace in and for said County do hereby certify that James Towler a party to a certain deed dated on the 12th day of February A.D. 1834 and hereunto annexed personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed, and desired us to certify the said acknowledgement to the Clerk of the County Court of the County of Charlotte of the State of Virginia in [illegible] that the said deed may be recorded. Given under our hands and seals this 12th day of February A.D. 1834.
