In the name of God amen I George Harraway of the county of Charlotte and state of Virginia being of sound mind and knowing that it is appointed unto man once to die do make and ordain this instrument of writing to be my last will and testament. First it is my will and desire that all my just debts be paid out of my estate. Secondly it is my will and desire that all my slaves to wit James and Molly his wife Sam Edmund Clem and Dafney be free at my decease. Thirdly it is my will and desire that each of these have one hundred dollars in money and be moved out of the state at the expense of my estate. Fourthly it is my will and desire that all my land be sold on in credit of one two and three years also all my stock of every description household and kitchen furniture and plantation tools upon a credit of one year and all the money arising from such sale or sales I give to be equally divided between my brothers and sisters herein after named to wit Samuel Harraway, Epaphroditus Harraway, Nancy Harraway, Susannah Leeson wife of John Leeson and Polly Akers widow of William Akers dec’d to them and their heirs forever and lastly I do hereby appoint my friend William McKinney and Charles McKinney Jr Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made. At a Court held for Charlotte County the 3rd day of July 1820
This last will and testament of George Harraway dec’d was presented in Court and there being no witnesses to the said will Samuel Bromack John P. Richardson and John D. Spragins being sworn depose and say that they are well acquainted with the testators hand writing and sure believed that the said will and the name thereto subscribed are all of the testators proper hand writing. Whereupon it is ordered that the same be recorded and on the motion of William and Charles McKinney the Executors in the said will named who made oath according to law probate thereof is granted them on giving bond and security whereupon they with John Marshall Samuel Branch and Benjamin Marshall entered into and acknowledged their bond according to law for that purpose.
