To all to whom these presents may concern know ye that I Edward Keeling of the County of Charlotte taking into Consideration the long continued eminent and faithful services rendered by my woman slave Nancy of the age of thirty two years as a Consideration to which she is justly entitled as well by nature as reward, do consider it as a matter of justice due her merit that she be hence discharged from further slavery, I do therefore by these presents emancipate & discharge the said Nancy that she be henceforth deemed & considered as a free person to all intents and purposes hereafter to be considered as no part of my Estate, or that of any other person or persons whatsoever by from or under me. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the seventh day of October 1793.

At a Court held for Charlotte County the 7th day of October 1793.
This Deed of Emancipation was proved in Court by the oath of Edmund Keeling and Leonard Keeling the witnesses hereto subscribed to be the act & deed of the said Edward Keeling and ordered to be recorded.
