Know all men by these presents that I Martha L Crank of the County of Albemarle and State of Virginia do hereby manumit & set free forever the following slaves viz. Caroline & her children William, Thomas, and Lucy and future increase Carolina is forty five years old, of a brown colour, William is about twenty five, Thomas about eleven, and Lucy abut nine years old, all about the colour of their mother.
These slaves were sent off by me to the State of Ohio in the fall of 1854 without free papers, and this is intended to supply that omission.
Witness my hand and seal this 29th day of September 1859

This day Martha L Crank came before me a notary public for the County and State aforesaid, and acknowledged the foregoing deed, bearing date the 29th date of September 1859.

This deed was presented in said office & being duly certified was thereupon admitted to record.
