Know all men by these presents that I, Martha L. Crank of the County of Albemarle, State of Virginia, have
manumitted emancipated and set free, and by these presents do manumit emancipate and set free, a negro Boy
slave named Isaiah and sometimes called Isaiah Crank, and I hereby declare him, the said Isaiah to be entirely
liberated from slavery and entitled to all the rights and privileges of a free person with which it is in my power
to vest him. He the said Isaiah, hereby emancipated, is a Boy of Brown complexion, about four feet nine
inches high and will be Twelve years old on the 4th day of April next.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 25th day of May 1858.

I W. A. Turner a Justice of the peace in & for said County, do hereby certify that Martha L. Crank party to the
foregoing deed bearing date of 25th day of May 1858. this day personally appeared before me &
acknowledged the said deed, in my County aforesaid.
