Know all men by these presets that I Harriet Lewis Maury in hereby manumit, emancipate, and set free a negro boy slave named George Washington Perritt from and after the 25th day of September in the year 1863 and I hereby declare him the named Geroge to be entirely liberated from slavery and entitled to all the rights and privileges of a free person with which it is in my power to vest him from and after the date aforesaid until which time he is to remain a slave.
The said George is not quite seven years of age, a bright mulatto with black eyes, straight black hair and is very good looking. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand an affixed my seal this 5" day of July, 1849

In the Clerks Office of Albemarle County, Court the 5" July 1849.
This deed was presented to me in my said Office and be my acknowledged - was thereupon admitted to record.
