<text>In the name of God Amen. I William Flood of the Parish of Cople and County of Westmoreland, being weak of body but of sound memory, do make this my last will & testament in manner following.
My desire is that the plantation and lands called Kindsale and whereon I now live be rented our or leased until my son William Flood arrives to the age of twenty one years, unless my Executors can dispose of the same for fifteen hundred pounds current money, and in that case, I hereby give them full power so to do, and the money to be part put out at interest in the hands of one person only with sufficient landed security for the use of my said son William and his heirs forever. But should it so happen that my son Nicholas Flood be not provided for by my brother Nicholas Flood, my will and desire is and I do hereby give unto my said son Nich’s the one half of the money arising from the sale thereof (if sold) to him and his heirs forever.
I give and bequeath unto my son William Flood and to his heirs forever my land and appertunances called Lynch’s Point together with the land adjoining that I lately purchased of William Jeffries, and in case my son William dies before he arrives at full age, then I give the said lands to my son Nicholas and his heirs forever, and should he my son Nicholas die before he arrives to the age of twenty one years, then I give the said lands and appurtenances unto my grandson Walter Jones & his heirs forever. I give to my son William Flood my sword, silver mounted gun, and gold seat with coat of arms thereon.
I give to my daughter Alice Jones my chariot & the four horses that are usually drove therein with the harness and appurtenances thereto belonging. It is my desire that the five negroes to wit: Daisy, Aron, Moses, old Mary, and Mingo, together with what stock my executors may think convenient to be kept on the plantation called Lynch’s Point for the use and benefit of my son William Flood & his heirs, he accounting to my son Nicholas and my daughter Elizabeth for two thirds of their appraisement price.
I give and bequeath unto my trusty friend James Knott all my wearing apparel of every kind whatsoever, my young sorrel colt, and my bay filly as also fifty pounds current money. My will and desire is that my negro woman Hannah who has behaved as a trusty servant be set free at my death. My desire is that all the rest of my personal estate (including negroes) be sold the ensuing fall for credit not exceeding six months bond and security to be taken; and if the bonds are not punctually paid at the time of payment, interest shall be taken from the date of the sales.
It is my particular desire (should my Executors think fit & convenient) that my grandson Richard Parker Jun’r have the commencing and prosecuting any suit that is or shall be brought.
I give and bequeath unto my friend John Shearman Woodcock one hundred and fifty pounds current money for the extraordinary trouble he will necessarily be at in the settling my affairs. All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, be it of what nature, kind or quality soever (after my just debts are paid) I give and devise to my three children William, Nicholas & Elizabeth to be equally divided between them and their heirs forever.
If my Executors should find it for the interest of my son William to have any part of his fortune laid out in lands or to carry on building the mill and improvements at Lynch’s Point, I do hereby give them full power so to do. I hereby appoint my brother Nicholas Flood guardian to my two sons, William & Nicholas & desire that they may be particularly under his care.
Lastly, I constitute and appoint my son in law Doct. Walter Jones and John Shearman Woodcock Executors to this my last will and testament revoking all others by me heretofore made. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 9th day of April 1775.

I Harry Piper of the Town of Alexandria in the Colony of Virginia, merchant being in good health and perfect memory (blessed be God) do this twenty first day of November one thousand seven hundred & seventy four, make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say)
Imprimis I give to my sister Elizabeth Sargent four hundred pounds sterling. In case of her decease before this will shall take effect, my desire is that that sum may be equally divided among her children.
Item I give to my sister Jean Walker (the wife of William Walker) four hundred pounds sterling. In case of her decease before this will takes place, my desire is that that sum may be equally divided among her children.
Item I give to Miss Mary Dixon the daughter of my friend John Dixon Esq. one hundred pounds sterling.
Item I give to Miss Betty Ramsay twenty five pounds sterling.
Item I give to Miss Sarah Masterson twenty five pounds sterling.
Item I give my godson William Ramsay twenty five pounds sterling.
Item I give to my goddaughter Sally Harrison twenty five pounds sterling, also a right to a third part of a pew in the church at Alexandria now the property of John Muir, William Ramsay, & myself. As a small toke of my friendship for my relation John Dixon esq, I hope he will accept of my gold watch.
My faithful servant Charles hath served me long & I hope from my treatment of him during the time of his servitude he has seldom reason to feel the pain of his being a slave, and advise fortune might go hard with him, therefore it is my will and desire if he is in my possession at the time of my death that he may then be set free. It is not convenient for me to comply with the laws of this Colony prescribed for setting of slaves free, yet I hope while he continues to behave well, if he chooses fit, he may still live in this Colony unmolested, but if there should be any danger of his being taken up & sold, it is I hope I shall have some friends left to interfere in his behalf. It is my desire if that should be the case that he may be sent to England or any other place he may choose where he can be free of the expense of his passage to be paid by my executors.
My desire is that my wearing apparel may be equally divided between my brothers & sisters before mentioned. If I shall die at Mr. Ramsay’s in Alexandria, I desire that ten pounds may be given to the house servants to be divided by Mr. Ramsay.
I give and bequeath unto my brother Anthony Piper all the residue or remainder of my estate both real and personal to him, his heirs, and assigus forever. And I acknowledged, constitute & ordain my brother Anthony Piper & request my good friend John Dixon Esq. will join him as Executor of this my will. In witness whereof I the said Harry Piper have to this my last will & testament set my hand & seal the day & year before written.
Acknowledged by the testator as & for his last will & testament in presence of us.
										Harry Piper (seal)
At a court cont’d & held for the County of Fairfax 22 Feby 1780, William Ramsay and John Muir presented to the court this instrument of writing and made oath that they found the same among the papers of Harry Piper dec’d, supposed to be the last will and testament of the said decedent and on their motion is ordered to be recorded.
