              <text>In the name of God Amen, I Lewis Turner of the county of&#13;
Isle of Wight and state of Virginia, do make and ordain this&#13;
my last will and testament, in manner and form&#13;
following - Item 1st it is my will and desire that all&#13;
my slaves, to wit: Treacy and her children William, Simon&#13;
Alfred and Melvina and their increase should remain&#13;
in the hands of John M. Dick until the year 1853, at&#13;
which time the said Melvina will be twenty one, it&#13;
is then my will that the above named slaves and their&#13;
increase have their freedom, and I do hereby emancipate and&#13;
set free the said slaves, Treacy, William, Alfred and&#13;
Melvina and their increase forever - if however the said&#13;
slaves or either of them, should not wish to leave this&#13;
state, and as freedom cannot be given to remain within&#13;
it, in that case they or either of them may chuse the&#13;
said John M. Dick as their master, and I do hereby give&#13;
the same to him and his heirs forever - Item 2d. I give and&#13;
bequeath to each of my children the sum of five dollars&#13;
to them and their heirs forever. - Item 3d. all the rest &amp;&#13;
residue of my estate, of whatever nature or kind, I give&#13;
and bequeath unto the said John W. Dick for the purpose&#13;
of supporting and attending to the said slaves, so long as&#13;
as they shall be kept together, to him and his heirs forever.&#13;
Item 4th and last, I nominate and appoint the said John&#13;
W. Dick, whole and sole Executor of this my last will&#13;
and testament, revoking and making void all former&#13;
wills and testaments - I request the court not to require&#13;
any security of my said Executor on his administration&#13;
of my estate as I owe no money, and have the fullest&#13;
confidence in his management of the same - In witness&#13;

              <text>I Judy Patrick of Isleofwight county do hereby make my last will and testament in&#13;
manner and form following, that is to say. ~&#13;
First I give and bequeath unto my friend Mary Roberts, who passes for the wife of my&#13;
Grandson James, the land and plantation on which I live, supposed to contain about fifteen&#13;
acres also all my chattle property, after my debts are paid, except as herein after mentioned, for and&#13;
during the term of her natural life, and after her death, I give the same to her children to&#13;
be equally divided amongst them and enjoyed forever. ~&#13;
Secondly I also give and bequeath unto the said Mary Roberts, for and during the term&#13;
of her natural life, my daughter Peggy whom I purchased of Mr. Gibbs, and my brother Jo-&#13;
seph, whom I purchased of Charles Wrenn, and my grandson James whom I purchased of Mr. Pedin&#13;
in the hope and expectation that she will allow to them every indulgence which the laws will&#13;
warrant. ~&#13;
Thirdly, after the death of the said Mary Roberts my will and desire is that the said Peggy, Joseph&#13;
and James be emancipated and enjoy their freedom. ~&#13;
Lastly I appoint my friend Mary Roberts executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revo-&#13;
king all others by me heretofore made. ~&#13;

              <text>Know all men by these presents that I John Hatton of the&#13;
county of Isle of Wight, and State of Virginia did on the twenty sixth day&#13;
Wilkinson&#13;
of July in the year one thousand eight hundred and twelve, execute a&#13;
deed of emancipation to the bearer hereof Ned Wilkinson which instru=&#13;
ment of writing it appears he has either mislaid or lost. Now know ye that&#13;
for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid the&#13;
receipt of which is hereby acknowledged have acquitted and discharged and&#13;
by these presents do acquit and discharge the said negro man Ned from&#13;
all future service and hereby grant him all privileges that the Laws of&#13;
the Commonwealth allow to free men of colour.      Given under my hand&#13;
and seal this twenty fourth day of August in the year one thousand eight hundred&#13;
and thirty -&#13;
