              <text>I Geo Daniel Spratt of the town of Urbanna, being of sound &amp; disposing mind, do make and constitute this my last will and testament. Imprimis. I give to my aunt Mrs. Frances Daniel all my lands, houses, slaves, stocks, and furniture during her natural life; and after her death I devise the same as follows to wit: the estate called Lansdown and that called the Reeds in the county of Middlesex, and all the slaves, stocks, furniture, and appurtenances thereto belonging or therewith at this time held and enjoyed, I give and bequeath to my friends General John Minor and John Chew esquire in trust for my relation Robert Beverley Fife near Edinburg in Scotland and to his heirs forever, the profits of said estate to be annually applied to his support &amp; education until he shall attain the age of twenty one years, and then applied to his use until he shall require a deed in fee simple to himself or any other person and then it is my will that my said trustees shall convey the same as required by him. My estate called Bellview in the County of Gloucester with one half of the slaves, stocks and plantation utensils, I devise to John Minor and John Chew in trust for my relation James Fife near Edinburg in Scotland and to his heirs forever the profits to be applied to his maintenance and education until he shall attain the age of twenty one years, and then to his use until he shall require a conveyance in fee simple to himself or to some other person, which conveyance it is my will my trustees shall make. &#13;
I devise my estate called Whitings with one half of the slaves, stocks, and plantation utensils on the Bellview estate in trust as aforesaid for the use of my relation William Fife in Scotland near Edinburg and to his heirs forever the annual profits to be applied to his support and education until he shall attain the age of twenty one years, and then to his use until he shall require a conveyance in fee simple to himself or to some other person, and then it is my wish that my trustees do make such conveyance.&#13;
It is my will that my just debts be paid and that the debts due to me be first applied to this purpose, and any surplus which many remain after discharging the debts I owe, I bequeath as follows. One third to my aunt Mrs. Catharine Fife near Edinburg, one other third to Jane and Catharine Fife, daughters of my said aunt, and the other third to Margarett Spratt daughter of Margarett Law of Fifeshire in Scotland, but if she be dead, that third to be divided between my said Aunt Catharine Fife and her said two daughters.&#13;
I give to Charles Minor son of General John Minor all the money I am entitled to under the will of Overton Cosby esquire.&#13;
I give to Charles Minor my negro boy named Ralph.&#13;
I bequeath to my friends John Chew and John Minor the following slaves to wit: Joan, Charlotte, Beckey and her children, and Robin. In trust that they shall be allowed all the liberty which the laws of the country will admit of, and that my said trustees shall, whenever required by either of the said slave, give them a deed of emancipation.&#13;
I bequeath to my friend Doctor James Dabney of Gloucester all my books, medicines and shop furniture, and all the estate not before devised, including my gig and saddle horses. I constitute and appoint my friends John Minor and John Chew executors of this my will hereby revoking all other wills.&#13;

              <text>I John Quarles of the county of Middlesex being in perfect sense and memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all others heretofore made. &#13;
Imprimis. It is my will and desire that all my just debts be honestly paid &amp; that my body be buried in a plain but decent manner at the discretion of my executors. &#13;
Item After my debts and legacies are satisfied, I give to my dear wife Elizabeth Stonard Quarles all my household &amp; kitchen furniture, my books, provisions &amp; liquors, stock of horses &amp; cattle, sheep and hogs, carriages, plantation utensils, the crops that may be on hand, or growing, and all debts due to me to her my said wife and to her heirs forever in fee simple. &#13;
Item It is my will &amp; desire that my executors do emancipate my servant boy called Anderson Dangerfield soon as he arrives to the age of twenty one years, provided he can at that time be permitted to enjoy his liberty within this, or any other of the United States. For the faithful services of my old servant Bob, it is my desire that my executors treat him with lenity during his life.&#13;
Item In case any of my slaves behave undutifully to their mistress or conduct themselves improperly, it is my will that my executors may if they think proper, dispose of such slave or slaves as shall thus misbehave, and vest the proceeds of the sale in bank stock the dividend upon which to be drawn by my wife during her life &amp; at her decease the stock to vest in my brother Robert in lieu of the slaves so disposed of.&#13;
Item All the rest and residue of my estate that I may die possessed of, or be entitled to, I lend to my wife Elizabeth S Quarles during her natural life (bother real and personal) and after her death, I devise the same to my brother Robert Quarles and his heirs forever.&#13;
Item It is my will that no appraisement of my estate be made, but that my executors return to court an inventory of my slaves only.&#13;
Lastly I constitute and appoint my wife Elizabeth and my brother Robert Quarles executrix and executor of this my last will and testament.&#13;

This last will and testament of John Quarles deceased was this day produced in court by Robert Quarles and Elizabeth Quarles executor and executrix named in the said will &amp; said will being proved by the oath of Robert Blakey and the handwriting of Churchhill Blakey one of the attesting witnesses being proved by the oaths of Robert Blakey the said will is ordered to be recorded. A codicil to said will was also proved by the oath of Anthony New Jr a witness thereto and ordered to be certified. And on the motion of the said executor and executrix they are permitted to qualify and thereupon entered into bond with security according to law, certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate in due form. &#13;
