2nd it is my wish that all my servants shall be emancipated to Liberia &amp; money to defray the necessary expense. A legacy to my nephew George Lewis Adie of $300. To my nephew Wilberforce Reid the amount due me from his father James H. Reid. To my sister Fanny Adie five dollar gold piece &amp; a jet &amp; gold breast pin &amp; black silk dress. To my sister Amy Ann Reid five dollar gold piece &amp; a jet finger ring &amp; a light colored silk. To my brother James Tolson’s wife the choice of my bed quilts. Robertson of the County of Stafford and State of Virginia, do make this my last will &amp; testament in manner &amp; form following viz: After the payment of all my just debts &amp; funeral expenses, I give my whole estate both real &amp; personal to my loving &amp; affectionate wife Eleanor, to her own use &amp; disposal separate from the control of A. Husband. But nevertheless subject to the payment of the legacies and under the restrictions hereafter mentioned, to wit: It is my will that my Executors hereafter mentioned go into an immediate examination of my books &amp; vouchers &amp; report them to the Court according to law. My will is that the claim recorded in Pittsburg in my farms against my brother Thomas Robertson be given to his son John W. Robertson of Pittsburg whom his paying over to his cousin Morgan Roberton the sum of two hundred dollars without interest. My will is that all bonds &amp; papers that may be found in my possession against my brother in law Joseph Wilson of the State of Ohio shall be null &amp; void forever.&#13;
My will is that my house carpentering tools be given to John W. Latham of Ohio, grandson of my wife. My will if the laws of my country will so permit that my slaves be set free, the males at the age of twenty six years. My will is that my house &amp; lots situated on Aquia at the death of my wife b given to her daughter Nancy. &#13;
Lastly I appoint my friends Colonel Briggs, Edward Waller and James W. Ford as my Executors to which I set my  hand &amp; seal this twenty second day of October eighteen hundred &amp; forty two.&#13;

              <text>I John Carroll of the County of Carroll and State of Virginia do hereby make and ordain this as my last will and testament, being of sound mind and disposing memory as follows. First it is my will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid. Second. It is my will that all my property both real and personal, except my slaves be sold by my Executor herein after appointed. The real property for one fourth of the purchase money in cash and the balance in one two and three years equal payments the purchaser giving bond and good security and a lien retained on the bond for the security of the deferred payments. My personal property to be sold on a credit of twelve months for all sums over five dollars the purchaser giving bond and good security. All sums under give dollars cash in hand.&#13;
I further will that my Executor hereinafter named shall hire out my slaves to some careful person or persons who will use them well until such time as he shall have collected the money arising to my estate and then it is my will that my said slaves shall be free as well such as are living at the time of my death as those that may be born afterwards. &#13;
I further will that should my said slaves prefer going to a non slave holding state that my Executors appoint some faithful agent if he cannot perform the duty himself to buy lands for them in such state as will be of the value of all the money in the hands of my Executors except such sums as will be necessary to defray the expenses of their removal and buy such personal property as will be sufficient to enable them to work the lands so bought. &#13;
I further will that they shall have the benefit of and I hereby will to them equally to be divided amongst them all my money arising from the sale of my property as before directed and from collection of debts due me or arising from the hire of said slaves to be expended as herein before directed.&#13;
I further will that if there be any doubt about my said slaves being entitled to their freedom at the end of such time as my Executor shall settle up and make collection as herein before directed, then that they be free at my death and be removed from the state as by how they may be required, as I have before directed. I hereby nominate and appoint my friend Hon. Andrew S. Fulton of the County of Wythe and State aforesaid as Executor of this my last will and testament. Witness my hand and seal this the 7th day of March 1860.&#13;

Fulton who was nominated executor of said will having by a writing sworn his hand which is ordered to be filed &amp; received with the will, renounced the Executorship thereof. The court proceeded to appoint an administrator with the will annexed &amp; on motion of John Early who  made oath according to law &amp; together with James Early, James B Johnson &amp; Michael Kinser his securities entered into and acknowledged bond in the penalty of thirty thousand dollars with condition according to law.
