Know all men by these presents that I Nancy Wood as administrator of the will annexed of Jesse&#13;
Wood deceased and as a legatee under his will for and in consideration of the regard I have for&#13;
Tom a negro man slave late the property of the said Jesse Wood and by his will entitled to his&#13;
freedom at my death and for the future consideration of the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid&#13;
have emancipated and forever set free by these presents do emancipate and forever set free the&#13;
said Tom and release and discharge him from all involuntary servitude Witness my hand and seal&#13;
this 8th day March 1841&#13;

In the name of God amen I Jesse Wood the County of Campbell and State of Virginia being in sound&#13;
mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed for all once to die I do my last will and revoking all&#13;
will heretofore made by me In the first my Executrix and Executor hereafter named will pay all just debts&#13;
or claims which at my Death may be owing by me I do make and ordain this to be my last will and&#13;
testament in order to prevent all strife and ____ that might arise amongst my relations after my death and&#13;
for purpose do appoint William Davis Jr and Peter Dudley both of Lynchburg John Peterson my&#13;
Executors and Jonathan Johnson Benjamin Schoolfield from Lynchburg I lend to my wife Nancy Wood&#13;

the negroes to Ohio or some free State where they can use my Estate is to pay for all charges and trouble&#13;
