              <text>In the name of God Amen. I Samuel Drury of York County being of sound mind &amp; disposing memory, do make this my last will and testament. I desire that all of my just debts be paid &amp; for the payment of my just debts, I wish my stock of all kind to be sold. It is my will and desire that my wife Oberia whom I purchased of Mr. Benjamin Allen be emancipated by my Executor &amp; that all the money arising from the sale of my property before mentioned be given to her and her heirs forever. It is my will that my wife have my land to dispose of as she may think fit. I appoint my friend John Slaughter Esq Executor of this my last will &amp; testament, &amp; I desire that he will use his influence in getting permission of the court for my wife to remain in this state, &amp; in the event of her obtaining permission to remain in this state, it is my desire that he act as trustee for her. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand &amp; seal this 11th day of July 1857.&#13;

At a court held for York County 21st day of February 1859, this day a paper purporting to be the last will and testament of Sam’l Drury deceased was produced in court for record, and all of the subscribing witnesses thereto being dead, Ro. H. Armistead and Sydney Smith were sworn who deposed that they were well acquainted with the handwriting of Turner Christian and Edward B. Lindsey the two subscribing witnesses thereto, whereupon the same on the motion of John Slaughter was ordered to be recorded.&#13;

              <text>Whereas by the last Will and Testament of the late Hon. David Campbell&#13;
of Abingdon Virginia, made in the 4th day of February 1857, and a Codicil made thereto on the 7th of September 1857, provision is made for the emancipation of his servant man David, aged Thirty three years, of Coper[sic] complexion, if it could be done by the laws of the state of Virginia, when the death of his widow Mary H Campbell should occur, which last event happened on the 6th day of October 1859_ Now by virtue of the authority given to me by said Will I hereby set free and Emancipate the said slave David Byrd, provided he complies with the laws of the state of Virginia, and removes beyond the limits of the same. &#13;

Given under my hand and seal this 15th day of November 1859.&#13;
