I Helen C. Galloway of Winchester in Frederick County and&#13;
Commonwealth of Virginia, being in heath of body and of&#13;
sound and disposing mind and memory, thanks be to God&#13;
for this and all other his mercies bestowed on me: And&#13;
calling to mind the certainty of Death: and the uncertainty of&#13;
the time when it will happen. Do make this my last will and&#13;
testament in manner following.&#13;
First and principally I commend my soul to Almighty God&#13;
who gave it and my body to the earth, in hope of a glorious&#13;
resurrection at the last day;&#13;
And as for such worldly goods and property as God has been&#13;
pleased to bless me with I give and dispose of the same as follows.&#13;
First for the payment of all my just debts and reasonable&#13;
funeral charges.&#13;
Secondly I will and desire that all my slaves shall be free&#13;
and I do hereby emancipate them and set them fully free&#13;
Their names are as follows, to wit, Milly Williams and her&#13;
children Martha, Catherine, Eliza, Henrietta, Richard, Mary&#13;
&amp; Margaret Ellen, Judy Brown           George William&#13;

they were herein emancipated by name&#13;
I will and bequeath the sum of one hundred dollars to the&#13;
said Fanny Brown, and the like sum of one hundred dollars&#13;
to the said Margaret Ellen Williams. All the rest and residue&#13;
of my estate whether real personal or mixed I give devise&#13;
and bequeath unto my beloved niece Margaret Johnston&#13;
wife of John W Johnston, to have and to hold to her heirs&#13;
and assigns forever, as her seperate property and estate, free&#13;
and independent of any claim of her said husband or any&#13;
control of his, &amp; free from any debts or contracts of his, whether&#13;
already contracted or made; or hereafter to be contracted or made,&#13;
And if this residuary devise &amp; bequeath be insufficient for the&#13;
complete protection of the property in safety to the exclusive use&#13;
&amp; benefit &amp; seperate use of the said Margaret Johnston: then and&#13;
in that case I give devise &amp; bequeath the said property real&#13;
personal or mixed to my Executors hereinafter named to be by&#13;
them held and settled upon and secured to the seperate use&#13;
of the said Margaret Johnston her heirs &amp; assigus forever free&#13;

slaves who are hereby emancipated to be divided between them by Mrs Jno.&#13;
Bruce, Mrs Richard E. Byrd, Mrs. Mary S. L. Williams or a majority of them&#13;
in such manner and proportion as they may see proper or as I may&#13;

The china which I give to Margaret Johnson is in the cupboard, she is to&#13;
have my family Bible, and my other books.&#13;
I also give to Fanny Tidball fifty dollars, and fifty dollars to her son&#13;
