              <text>Whereas a conveyance hath been executed by Hiram C. Fleenor dated &#13;
the 8th day of August 1838 by which he hath transferred to Thomas W &#13;
Fleenor his right and title to the tract of land on which Michael Fleenor &#13;
dec’d lived at the time of his death and also his right and title to the slave &#13;
bequeathed by the will of said Michael to the said Hiram—and it being the &#13;
understanding and agreement – between the said Hiram – and the said &#13;
Thomas that the said slave Toby is to be free—but that he is to live &#13;
with his mother Sarah Fleenor and cultivate her farm during her life.&#13;
&#13;
In order therefore to execute this intention I, the said Thomas W. Fleenor do &#13;
hereby agree and bind myself and my heirs that the said Toby is to remain &#13;
in the possession and on the farm of said Sally Fleenor and cultivate the &#13;
same for her during her natural life. She allowing him for his services such share &#13;
of the crops annually as David Campbell the Executor of said Michael shall &#13;
think just. And at the death of said Sally Fleenor, I said Thomas W&#13;
Fleenor bind myself and my heirs that the said Toby shall be a free man. And &#13;
in pursuance of the agreement between said Hiram and myself above referred &#13;

Carpenter of the County of Lancaster and State of Virginia Knowing the shortness and uncertainty of this Moral life, being in health of Sound mind memory &amp; c. Thanks be to Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last will and Testament as follows Viz:_ &#13;
First, I give and bequeath my immortal soul To God who gave it in hopes of a glorious resurrection after death _&#13;
Secondly_ I do hereby set free and emancipate my servant woman Annett and her three children Mana, Rebecca, and Julia Ann Piny and all her future increase forever _&#13;
Thirdly, I give to my servant woman Annett Forty Dollars to be raised out of the sales of my perishable property or otherwise and my best Snow Ball counterpans[?] To assist and [illegible] her expenses To a free state or to Liberia as she prefers_&#13;
Fourthly, I lend to my daughter Ann Thrall after all my just debts are paid (which thank God is very Small) all the balance of my estate both real and personal of whatsoever Kind There my be for and during her natural life and should she have a child or children lawfully be gotten of her body Then in that case I give it together with the increase of the [illegible] to be equally divided among her said children To Them and Their heirs forever iin Manner and form as follows viz:&#13;
It is my desire that her eldest son if any if no Son her eldest daughter shall inherit my plantations that I now cultivate together with all other lands that I may be possessed with at the time of my death and the rest of my estate Together with the negroes and increase be equally divided between all her children, after her death_&#13;
It is also my wish and desire that if my Daugher Ann Thrall should attempt to waist, destroy, or sell or in any manner make way with the negroes or increase of the same or of any property what I have loaned her in the fourth Clause of this my last will it is my earnest wish and desire and I do hereby authorize my administrator or my next friend whom I shall hereafter name to take from and disposes my said daughter of all the negroes and (increase) increase thereof and lease them out to or at good homes where they will be well treated and taken care of, and the profits arising therefrom to be given to her yearly for here and her childrens Benefit_ Should it please God for my daughter Ann Thrall to die without an heir or heirs lawfully begotten of her body, In This case it is my will and desire that the negroes that I loaned her in the fourth clause of This my will and Their increase to be free forever from slavery and that my administrator or next friend put them under the Control of the state Government or United States Government to be transported to Liberia and it is my further wish and desire that all my lands be sold and equally divided between them for their support and to defray their expenses. _ Fifthly I do hereby nominate and appoint my friend Samuel C. Tapscott, Albert S. Willis and Joseph A Carter or either of them or my next friend or administrator as they choose and should my friend Mr. Samuel C. Tapscott Thing proper to administer or be my next friend him nor his securities nor either of them shall be responsible for any Thing They or him may do ignorantly.		Sixthly I give to my next friend or admor. fifteen dollars to be paid to him out of the hire of the negroes for the first year after my death for his trouble in having this will proved in Court in hopes he will use all his diligence To do so _ Seventhly it is my wish &amp; desire that my remains may be put in a decent pine coffin and rest in the earth on the south side of the grave of my last wife in the Burying ground on my land.               <text>Know all men by these presents that I Nancy Tarrant of Hampton County of Elizabeth City, have manumitted, emancipated and set free, and by these presents do manumit, emancipate and set free a negro man slave named James Bailey who was sold and delivered to me by George Hope on the [blank] day of [blank] said County. And I hereby declare the said James Bailey to be entirely liberated from slavery and entitled to all the rights and privileges of a free person with which it is in my power to vest him. He the said James Bailey hereby emancipated is a man of yellow complexion about five feet 8 ½ inches and will be fifty five years of age on the 8th day of April next.&#13;

              <text>To all whom these presents shall come, Greeting. Know ye that I Mason Charity of the County of Surry for divers good causes and considerations, me thereunto moving, but more especially for the natural affection which I have and bear to my slave Jeffery, sometimes called Jeffery Hart, purchased of Henry Hart, hath emancipated and set free, and by these presents doth emancipate and set free the said slave Jeffery sometimes called Jeffery Hart, in as full complete and ample a manner as if he had been born free. And I do moreover for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators exonerate and discharge the said Jeffery from all and every claim from personal services from this day until the termination of his natural life. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal in the County aforesaid this 24th day of August in the year of Christ one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine.&#13;

Know all men by these presents that I Reuben Jordan of the County of Clarke Virginia in for divers good &amp; sufficient considerations thereunto moving me, have emancipated and set free and do hereby emancipate &amp; set free forever, and to every &amp; all intents &amp; purposes my slave negro Spencer who was by me lately recovered of Mr. Wm R. Seevers by the judgment of the Circuit Superior Court of Law and Chancery for said Clarke County hereby conferring upon said Spencer from this time as perfect a right to freedom as if he been born free.&#13;
