              <text>I Daniel Pond of Surry County being sick &amp; weak of body but of sound mind &amp; memory do make &amp; appoint this  in manner &amp; form as follows to wit: &#13;
I give &amp; bequeath to my son Matthew Pond &amp; to his heirs forever the plantation whereon I now dwell to be divided from my other land by a line to begin at a black jack a corner of Benj Hargrave’s line then along a bottom nearly a northwest course to Etheldred Clarke side line, containing by estimation one hundred &amp; seventy five acres, be the same more or less.&#13;
2nd I give &amp; bequeath to my son John Pond all the remainder of my land containing by estimation one hundred 7 seventy five acres be the same more or less to him and his heirs forever.&#13;
3rd I give &amp; bequeath to my beloved wife Mary Pond the use of the plantation and land which I have above divided to my son Matthew, together with all the remaining part of my estate of every kind &amp; quality whatsoever during her living a widow &amp; at her death or marriage my will &amp; desire is that what estate may be then remaining be sold &amp; that the lands which I have above devised to my sons Matthew &amp; John may be valued by persons appointed by my Exors herein after named &amp; the valuation thereof be added to the among of the sales of the other estate &amp; the whole amount equally divided amongst my wife in case of her marriage &amp; all my children to wit, Matthew, John, Hannah, and Daniel, or in case of her death amongst my children only that the land devised to my sons Matthew &amp; John be considered as their part &amp; if either of their lands shall be valued at more than their share that they shall respectively pay to my other children so much as the valuation of their lands shall exceed their dividend, or if the valuation of either shall not be equal to their dividend, the same be made up out of my other estate. And if any of my children shall die unmarried, I desire that their part may be equally divided amongst my other children. I give my beloved wife Mary full power &amp; authority to manumit &amp; set free the negro woman, Venus, I now possess &amp; her increase at any time she may think fit.
