              <text>I Charles A Dingess of the County of Giles and State of Virginia do make and ordain this my last will and testament viz. first all my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid out of any monies or levied out of my personal property.2ndIt is my will that for favors bestowed by my sister Mary French dec’d and her family, I give and bequeath to each of her children an extra allowance to each of her children an extra allowance of one hundred dollars to be enjoyed by them forever. 3rdFor like favors by my sister Sally McClaugherty dec’d I give and bequeath an extra allowance to each of her three children of one hundred dollars to be enjoyed by them forever. 4thI give and bequeath unto Evalina White daughter of Elizabeth White one thousand dollars the education clothing &amp; c of the said Evalina to be paid out of the bequeathed one thousand dollars by my executors at their discretion and the balance to be paid to her in cash or bonds when she the said Evalina arrives at lawful age or at the time of her marriage but in case the said Evalina shall have no lawfulliving issue then at her death and at the death of her issue the said bequest to revert to my Executors to be devised as herein after named. 5thI give and bequeath unto Eliza Lane Frenchdaughter of Naomi French one plantation lying in Giles County in the valley of Easter River containing about two hundred and thirty five acres which was purchased of John Blankenship the education, clothing &amp; c of the said Eliza James French to be paid out of the rents and profits of the said plantation after keeping the same in repair at the discretion of my Executors and also to pay unto the said Eliza Jane any balance of rents at her lawful age or marriage at which time she is to have full possession ofsaid land and the title to be made to her the said Eliza Jane by my Executors but in case the said Eliza Jane shall have no lawful living issue then at her death or at the death of her issue the said land to revert to my Executors to be sold by them and the title made to the purchaser and the proceeds devised as herein after named. 6thI give and bequeath unto the children of my brother John Dingess the debts he the said John owes me together with four hundred dollars and request my Executors to purchase the plantation he now lives on or some other plantation of near the same value and have the titles of the same made to his children the said John Dingess to have possession in common with his children, and this bequest to be their whole portion of my estateand that the said children enjoy the same forever the land to be purchased with the before mentioned debts owing to me and the bequeathed four hundred dollars.7thI give and bequeath unto my sister Elizabeth Smith one negro girl named Jane during the natural life of the said Elizabeth and at the death of the said Elizabeth the said negro girl with her increase is any to be sold by my executors and the proceeds devised as herein after named. 8thI give and bequeath unto Cynthia McComas one small yellow girl named Rhoda until the 17thday of July 1851 at which time she is to be free requesting my Executors to furnish any sum&#13;

necessary not exceeding one hundred dollars to pay her transportation to some place where her and her increase can enjoy the privilegeof freedom.9thI give and bequeath unto Napoleon B French and Wm H. French all my land on Brush Creek purchased in Co. with Capt David French dec’d from Andrew Johnston provided the said NB French and WH French pay the purchase money that is due for the same and pay over to my Executors the amount of the purchase money for said land paid by me with its interest and any costs that have or may accrue on or about the same. I also give and bequeath unto the said NB French and WH French all my interest in the old Howe tracts of land lying on Brush Creek provided the said NB and WH French pay to my Executors one hundred and fifty dollars for the same of the said devisees choose to accept the said lands on the above terms. If not accepted the said lands to be sold by my Executors and the proceeds devised as hereafter named.I will that my Executors have my mother well provided for during her natural life and I request Elizabeth Smith and William Smith to provide for and keep my mother and for that service they areto receive out of my estate at the sales of one hundred and fifty dollars per year during her natural life for the time they provide and support her also they are to have the use of Suckey a negro woman to attend my mother provided they choose to keep andsupport the said Suckey and her two youngest children and in case the said Elizabeth and William Smith comply with this requisition, the said Suckey and her children are not to be sold until after the death of my mother. I also will that my executors sellall my lands not heretofore devised at public sale on a credit to be paid at four annual installments, bearing interest on the whole purchase money after the first installment becomes due and that my executors convey the titles to the purchasers as soon as the last payments is made also that my Executors sell my slaves on a credit to be paid at two annual installments with interest with interest on the purchase money from the time the first installment becomes due and also all my other personal property ona credit of one year and that my executors collect all the debts now due my estate not otherwise devised shall become due and all the balance of my estate not otherwise devised shall be equally divided between the children of my brother Peter Dingess dec’d and the children of my sister Mary French dec’d, the children of my sister Nancy Henderson dec’d, and the children of my sister Sally McClaugherty dec’d to be paid in cash or bonds to those that may be of lawful age or married to be enjoyed by them forever.
