              <text>This deed made this 4thday of March one thousand eight hundred &amp; sixty one, between Thomas Beasley free man of color of the County of Giles &amp; State of Virginia of the first part, and Henry Beasley and Clara Beasley of said county and state of the second part. Witnesseth: that whereas the said Thomas Beasley is the owner, under the laws of the Commonwealth, and also the father of the said parties of the second part, and is desirous to relieve them from servitude: now therefore in consideration of the premises, and of his natural love and affection for his said children, and of the sum of one dollars in hand paid by the parties of the second part, to the said party of the first part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said Thomas Beasley doth hereby forever emancipate and set free from the claim of himself and all other persons whatsoever the said Henry &amp; Clara Beasley and their issue forever after them, their said freedom to be enjoyed by them and their issue free from any claim, hindrance, or demand from any person whatsoever, the said Henry being twenty eight years of page past, black in color and of about 155 lbs in weight, and the said Clara being forty five years of age, black in color and in weight about 125 lbs.
