              <text>Know all men by these presents, that I Frances B Gibson of the County of Prince William and State of Virginia for and in consideration of the great fidelity of my bond servant William Chinn, and moved by the motives of affection and philanthropy have manumitted emancipated and set free my said bond servant bond William Chinn and by these presents do manumit, emancipate and set free the said William Chinn, and it is my wish that this my act and deed of emancipation may be duly certified to the clerk of the county court of Fauquier that the said clerk may issue and deliver to the said William Chinn his “free papers” or duly attested copy of his free register.&#13;

              <text>I William Glascock of Fauquier County in the State of Virginia do make and design this instrument to be my last will and testament.&#13;
I give and bequeath to my Bro French Glascock all that parcel of piece of land purchased by me of the heirs of Hezekiah Glascock containing by supposition about one hundred and twenty six acres together with one hundred acres adjoining to the same to be taken from the piece of land deeded to me by my father and afterwards confirmed by his will said piece designed to be given is to extend across the tract aforesaid and be of equal width at the east and west and I also give to the said French Glascock three of my slaves, one named John, another named Zachariah, and the third one is to be of his choice.&#13;
Secondly I give to my nephew French Glascock son of sister Anna Glascock her female slaves one of them named Mary and other Sarah.&#13;
Thirdly I bequeath to my servant Catharine and her two children the sum of three thousand dollars to be held or managed by my Executor hereinafter named for their use and benefit and after their deaths to go absolutely to their respective heirs. I wish and desire my executors to sell at private sale on a credit all the remainder of my slaves allowing to each who is old enough to choose his master the liberty of doing so and those who from their juvenile situation one incapable of doing in like manner. I desire my Executors to choose good and humane masters for all such young slaves and cause them all old &amp; young to have as good masters as can be procured under similar circumstances, and not in affecting sales to be governed by prices too high.&#13;
All the rest and residue of my estate both real personal and mixed I desire sold at public auction on such credit as my Executors shall deem most advisable, and the proceeds of such sales including the sale of slaves together with all moneys that may be due, shall together make a fund which I bequeath as follows that is to say after deducting the three thousand dollars given to Catharine and her two children, and the expenses which my Executors may incur in removing them out of the Commonwealth of Virginia to some place they deem suitable to settle said Catharine and her two children as free people at together with such expenses and the expenses of administering is all to be deducted and the balance of said funds to be given as follows one sixth to the heirs of sister Susan Glascock, and another sixth to the heirs of sister Sallie Glascock, and another to the heirs of sister Rebecca Shearman, and another sixth to the heirs of sister Ann Glascock, and another sixth to the heirs of brother Charles Glascock, and the remaining one sixth part to be given to the children of French Glascock (my brother). &#13;
The share of Nancy Peck the wife of William Peck and the share of Nancy Glascock wife of Tho W Glascock, and the share of Sarah Butcher the wife of Edgar Butcher, I give to a trustee for their own use and benefit in trust to be applied by him to their support respectively during their lives and at their death to belong absolutely to their heirs respectively.&#13;
I hereby constitute and appoint my brother French Glascock my nephew Hiram Glascock and my nephew French Glascock (son of Ann Glascock) executors of this my last will and testament and its my will that when they qualify each or all together they be required to give only half the security required by the laws of Virginia in like case.&#13;

              <text>This deed made this 27th day of October 1856 between Kimble G Hicks and Thomas M Sherman, executors of Thomas Sherman deceased of the one part and Wylee Bruce, Abner Fletcher, Webster Mitchell, Olivia Powell, John Powell, Kitty Powell, Henry Powell, Melinda Powell, William Powell, Furday Powell and Amanda Powell late slaves of the said Thomas Sherman deceased by his last will and testament did provide for the emancipation from servitude of such of his slaves as should elect to secure their freedom and immigrate to Liberia in Africa, and whereas in a suit in chancery instituted in the Circuit Court of the County of Fauquier in the State of Virginia by the parties of the first part against the devisers and legatees of the said Thomas Sherman deceased for the purpose of obtaining a judicial contracture of his said will and a distribution of his estate according to the provisions of said will and whereas in the said suit a decree was possessed on the 13th day of September 1856 directing the said parties of the first part as executors as aforesaid to prove all of the slaves of the said Thomas Sherman before a commissioner of the said court in order that they might elect whether or not they would except the said premises of emancipation in their behalf contained in the said will and whereas the said parties of the second part did elect before the said commissioner to accept the said provision of emancipation and whereas the said commissioner did report to the said court that the said parties of the second part had so elected and whereas the said court did pass a further decree as the said suit on the 16th day of September 1856 conforming the said report and directing the said parties of the first part to execute proper deed of emancipation to the said parties of the second part.               <text>Being of sound mind &amp; memory I do now in the name of God consign my soul &amp; body to his keeping. I proceed also to dispose of my worldly goods &amp; estate. I desire most earnestly that my faithful servant Moses Sorrell shall be liberated &amp; have his freedom. I also wish &amp; give him the said Moses the sum of one hundred dollars, also I give him his chest of [illegible] &amp; other tools which he is in the habit of using, I also give him the aforesaid Moses, the silver watch which belonged to his revered Master. I also desire that the said Moses shall have a home with my heirs so long as he desires to stay. I also give him the bed &amp; all its appurtenances which he the said Moses always used. &#13;
I give &amp; bequeath to my beloved sister Elisa P. Williams of Alabama, all and every species of my property except my silver plate &amp; my servant Harry, the former I give &amp; bequeath to my beloved niece, Mrs Elisa Page Cleveland of Springfield, Alabama in consideration of my fervent regard for her &amp; the latter my servant man Harry. This paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Mildred P Palmer dec’d was this day presented to court for probate &amp; their being no subscribing witnesses to the same, William E. Gaskins and Nathaniel B. Butler were severally sworn and deposed that they were acquainted with the testatrix’s hand writing and that they verily believe the said will and the name thereto attached to be wholly written by the said testatrix, and thereupon the said paper writing is ordered to be recorded as the true last will &amp; testament of the said Mildred P. Palmer, deceased.&#13;
Doctor Goodwin, one of the executors named in said will, refused to take upon himself the burden of execution thereof Eppa Hinton the other executor therein named qualified and gave bond without security, the testatrix having requested in her will that he should not be required to do so.&#13;
