              <text>In the name of God amen I Sarah Scott of Charlotte County Virginia being of sound memory and discretion, do declare &amp; ordain this to be my last Will &amp; Testament after the payment of all my just debts, which I do hereby direct my executors to discharge. I give and bequeath unto my son Clement Read a negro woman called Betty and her youngest child John to him and to his heirs forever. I give to my daughter Priscilla Scott my carriage and harness to her &amp; her heirs forever. To my son Henry E. and William Scott I give a negro woman called Cate &amp; her two children James and Efsey five head of horses viz. my two carriage horses a black mare a horse called Pilgrim &amp; a white colt, four beds &amp; furniture, four bedsteads, one looking glass, and drafting table, two cases [?Holler?], one ox cart on my plantation Wards fork and all the utensils on said plantation. I give them all my sock of hogs on said place &amp; two other tables to them and their heirs forever. I give to my Grand daughter Sarah Read a bay colt a saddle and bridle. To my Grandson Isaac Read I give one bay colt. I give to my grand daughter Catharine Scott one bed and furniture. To my son Isaac Read I will Dick &amp; Sterling, two horses, viz. the Lill mare and I will three beds and furniture, three bedsteads, eightee head of cattle, half the stock of hogs not on the plantation all my kitchen furniture, twelve rush bottom chairs, one folding table, one drafting table and glass all my table linen, and other table furniture, one [?suite?] of curtains two large trunks, and all the rest of my property of whatsoever kind not before divided to him and to his heirs forever. My will and desire is that my negro man Sam should have his freedom. I appoint my sons Clement and Isaac Read Executors to this my will and testament. I do hereby revoke the gift of Betty’s youngest child to my son Clement, and give the said child to Catharine Scott my Grand daughter. This Last will and testament of Sarah Scott decd was presented in court by Isaac Read one of the executors herein named and the same was proved by the oath of Elizabeth King one of the subscribing witnesses and ordered to be recorded. On the motion of the said executor who made oath according to law certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate of the said will in due form he giving security whereupon he with Charles Scott his security entered into and acknowledged as their bond according to law for that purpose- reserving liberty to the other executor named in the said will to join in the probate thereof when he shall think fit.&#13;

              <text>In the name of God amen, this twenty first day of March one thousand eight hundred being sickly in body but in perfect good memory, thanks be to almighty God – and calling to remembrance the uncertain state of this transitory life, and that all flesh must yield unto death when it shall please god, also divers other good causes- moving me thereunto- do make constitute and ordain and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form following- that is to say- First I will that all those debts and dues as I owe in right, and conscience to any manner of person or persons whatsoever shall be well and truly contented and paid – or ordained to be paid within convenient time after my decease by my Executors hereafter named- Item it is my will and pleasure that the mulatto boy named Joshua do remain with Rachel Adams to the age of twenty one years &amp; then to have his freedom according to law- Item I leave unto Rachel Adams my cow which is with calf at this time, as also half of the household furniture the other half &amp; bed with the yearling to Chloe Adams what money is due to me for the sale of my place by James Arnold Sen- one seven pounds out of the first payment to go to the expences [sic] for burying me in a decent manner the other three pounds to be paid to Chloe Adams to furnish herself and Joshua on their way to Petersburg – the balance of Arnolds note of hand which six dollars and one shilling to go in part to discharge Jones’s note of hand against me -The balance to be paid out of the sale of my plantation utensils and carpenters tools – Item I leave the second payment of my land to John Johnson – I leave the third payment to John Haley Jun. – Item I leave my saddle to Joshua – and the fourth payment Asa Blankenship – Item if the cow has a calf I leave it to Milly Adams – Item I constitute &amp; appoint Ambrose Haley and Hezekiah Almond my executors.               <text>In the name of God Amen I William Ward of the County of Charlotte being weak in body but of sound mind and memory, do dispose of the Estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with in the following manner, viz. after my just debts are fully paid and satisfied, then all the rest of my Estate both real and personal (except two Negro men named Mingo and Stepney) I give to my beloved wife Anne Ward during her natural life, and at her death I desire that all the negros given to my wife of every age and description whatsoever may be fully free, and discharged from serving any other person or persons whatsoever. I give my stock of every kind, household and kitchen furniture as well as all the rest of my personal estate to my beloved wife Anne to her and her heirs forever. It is my desire that after the death of my beloved wife Anne that all my lands may go to James Huntsman son of Adam Huntsman to him and his heirs forever. I desire that my two negros Ming and Stepney may be free after my death. I desire that James Huntsman should be educated two years at the expense of my estate and lastly I do appoint my beloved wife Anne Executrices and John Spencer and Robert Bedford executors of this my last will, declaring this only to be my last will and testament. This Last Will and Testament of William Ward decd was presented in Court by Anne Ward the Executrix and John Spencer one of the Executors therein named and the same was proved by the oath of William Brown one of the Witnesses thereto subscribed and Robert Bedford the other executor named in the will renounced in open Court the burden of the Execution of the said Will. And the said Robert Bedford being first sworn deposeth and saith that he saw Samuel Griffin one of the Witnesses to the said will subscribe the same as a witness in the presence of the Testator, and the said Robert Bedford also deposed that the Testator acknowledged the said Will as his act of Deed in his presence. Ordered that the said Will be admitted to record. On the motion of the said Executrix and executor who made oath according to law, certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate of the said will in due form, they giving security whereupon they will Stephen Bedford and Thomas C Spencer their security entered into and acknowledged their Bond according to Law for that purpose.&#13;

              <text>I Thomas Scott of Charlotte County being of sound mind of memory do make this my last will and Testament. When I die I expect to be buried decently and hope for the eternal enjoyment of God in heaven forever. With respect to my estate it is my will that my just debts be paid. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah two negros, to wit Sam and Betty my Carriage and two horses to be disposed of as she may think proper to her and her heirs forever. I also lend unto my wife Sarah during her natural life four hundred acres of land I purchased of Leaderate and Mullins. I also lend my wife ten negros, to wit, Martin, Charles, Little Dick, Sterling, Abby, Little Betty, Judy, Molly, Peggy and Little Charles at her death to be equally divided between my two sons Henry Embry and William. I also lend unto my wife ten head cattle and my ox cart. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas my tract of land in the County of Campbell lying in the form of Staunton and falling rivers. I also give unto my son Thomas the following slaves and their future increase to wit, Major, Judy, Lucinder, George, Nathan, Cajon, Nancy, Muntrose, Peter, Nice and her two children, Billy, Scotland, Cate and her two children, Milly, James, Patty and her two children and Sam the son of Boston, one sound colt a horse called Farlton. Fear not mare and her two colts, three feather beds and furniture, twenty head hogs, and thirty head cattle to him his heirs and assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to my sons Henry Embry and William all my slaves that are not heretofore given (except Boston) together with the slaves I have lent my wife to be equally divided between them when my son Henry Embry comes to the age of twenty years to them their heirs and assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my friend William Cooper fifty pounds to be raised from my estate. It is my will that my estate be kept together one year after my decease and then that part given to my son Thomas to be divided to him. It is my desire that the estate I have already given to my two sons Henry Embry and William be kept together their mutual support and benefit until my son Henry Embry comes to the age of twenty one years. I direct that my stock of all kinds not heretofore given be sold for the payment of my debts. I also direct that my old servant Boston be emancipated directly after my death and that my executors pay him ten dollars a year until my son Thomas arrives to age and then it is my desire that Thomas pay him the same sum a year as long as he may live. It is my will that if either of my sons should die before they arrive to age or marry, that part of my estate left them be equally divided between those that survive. Where by my will dated the 29 day of December 1796 I bequeathed unto my wife Sarah two negros, Sterling and Dick, during life, and after that to my sons Embry and William to be equally divided between them and also two other negros Cate and her child James to my son Thomas, so much of the said will as aforesaid as respects the disposition as aforesaid. I do disannul and instead thereof I give to my wife the said negros Sterling and Dick, Cate and her child James to her and her heirs forever. And in addition to the bequest given to my wife in the will aforesaid, I direct my executors to lay out a sum of money, not to exceed one thousand dollars to be raised from my estate, in the purchase of a genteel carriage for my wife and also I give my wife four feather beds and furniture and my other furniture to be disposed of as my executors thinks proper. I do also appoint my sons Thomas and Embry in addition to the executors I have before mentioned in my said last will &amp; testament, dated aforesaid to execute my last will &amp; testament as witness my hand &amp; seal this 29th day of January 1799.&#13;
